In 2019, Mettle Cycling adopted an unofficial philosophy in our hope to bring equity to the sport of cycling: “DON’T TALK ABOUT IT, BE ABOUT IT.” This sentiment goes far beyond cycling and our local community. Mettle Cycling and the members of our bike racing team hold ourselves to high standards when it comes to real action and in our current climate (as always) this translates to moving beyond social media posts.

Our value as allies is not defined by our Instagram feed. It is what we do when no one is watching; to speak up in public or in private against everything from obvious racism to micro-aggressions. From participating in events with equal payouts to creating a welcoming environment for EVERYONE under our tent.

This effort is intended to raise real funds in support of The National Black Lives Matter Foundation (100% of proceeds will be sent directly to BLM). Our personal donations outside of this company have always gone to the ACLU but our goal now is to donate with even greater focus to the current crisis. Our refusal to remain silent will be furthered by giving funds to organizations that are striving for change in a full-time capacity through organizing and advocacy on a scale a small brand like ours cannot fully accomplish. We have chosen BLM because of their focus on embedded racial bias within law enforcement and police brutality.

These products from Mettle and our partners (Wahoo and Easton) are being made available for this initiative to raise as much money as possible for this purpose. We hope this is an additional incentive for purchasing a ticket to help the cause and get a little something back from some brands that want to help.
